Eggs, “the way they're supposed to taste,”
Is the promise that John and Cora Beking make to their customers.
They currently manage a flock of 14,000 chickens which they house in
barns that were retooled in 2005 into 'loose housing' - practice commonly
used in the 1960s. This roam-free system results in more active, healthier
birds. Eggs are graded on site and prompt delivery ensures the freshness
of the eggs reaching the consumer.
Food safety is essential and Bekings Poultry Farm is certified by the
Canadian Food Inspection Agency and adheres to the farm food
safety practices of HACCP. Firm believers in the local food movement, the
Bekings welcome the increased consumer interest in adhering to protocols
such as the 100 mile diet.
